A Letter To New Marketers
I get a lot of mails from folks not knowing where or how to begin. Someone just wrote me wanting to know about selling physical products or info products or ??? ...basically he just wanted to know what he should start with and where to start.
Here is my reply to his letter:
Hi Stan (I changed the name),
I get a lot of emails along the lines of yours...about not knowing which direction, etc.
Products or info products: Either work....we do both. We started with products and then added info products. The order could as well be reversed.
Here's my advice. Write down a plan for yourself using your current best judgment and knowledge level. Then take action with it!
Compared to brick and mortar businesses, with an online venture you have the luxury of learning quickly and effectively by following the "fail fast" method.
Jump in there and get started. So what if the first 3 or 4 things are flops? That's how you learn. I can all but assure you that the first thing you try will be a learning experience only. Accept that and get started!
We all see the big "gurus" out there making millions...what we DO NOT know about are all the train wrecks they went through to get there. They didn't just wake up one day rich. They began JUST like you and me. They are not lucky and they are not smarter. They just kept trying until it worked...and then tweaked, washed, rinsed and repeated.
Ok, that was my tough love speech for the day....
Write down your plan of action and get busy following it!
